I totally agree that we definitely need the guards to improve our security here.

It's very important to have a security company to ensure our safety here. Just like you pay for the maintenance fees monthly when you are staying in condominium. At least you have the guard to patrol your housing area. :)

Majority nod needed to set up guarded schemes
By NG CHENG YEE chengyee@thestar.com.my

KUALA LUMPUR: Guarded neighbourhoods may be set up only with the agreement of a majority (at least 51%) of its residents, said Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Chor Chee Heung.

“However, residents cannot be forced or coerced into agreeing to the setting up of such a neighbourhood.

“Local authorities must be informed of the decision to establish guarded neighbourhoods through residents’ associations that are registered with the Registrar of Societies under the Home Ministry,” he told a press conference here yesterday.

Guarded neighbourhoods are defined as fully or partly controlled residential areas in existing or new housing schemes with individual land titles.

Chor said perimeter fencing was not allowed in guarded neighbourhoods under the new guidelines for the planning of gated communities and guarded neighbourhoods.

However, he said, temporary barricades such as a manual boom gate, cones and safety signboards could be used alongside sentries, provided security guards were controlling the facilities.

He said local authorities had the right to order the dismantling of structures in guarded neighbourhoods if they caused inconvenience to residents.

I believe it is high time for Melodi owners to start get organised to form a pro-tem committee for our own resident association.

While we can see the guards now at the enclave, perhaps because the keys are not yet handed over to the owners, I am quite sure they will disappear once all of us get our keys.  I remember reading somewhere that this happened to our Hening neighbour when the owners all got their keys.

But firstly, how many of us really want the guards and are prepared to pay a monthly maintenance fees to engage of the security company?

I think they work in a syndicate too cos I receive at least 10 calls from different agents every day... as expected, they always have a 'serious' or 'very serious' buyer who is interested and want to view the unit.   What is there to view anyway?? It's new dear ....

I must say to equate a holy book to radicals is truly narrow minded and stupid.  I am a Christian, and I believe such actions in itself is a radical one and should be condemned by all. The Islam religion like all religions is a peaceful religion.  It is some minority people who are radical.  Not only PAS, but all parties and NGOs should protest if they go ahead with such actions. PAS to stage protest if Quran burning goes ahead
KUALA LUMPUR: PAS Youth said it would urge Muslims to protest outside the United States embassy here if an evangelical church in Florida goes ahead with a Quran-burning ceremony on Saturday.
The Dove World Outreach Centre said its ceremony, organised to mark the ninth anniversary of the Sept 11 attacks, is a warning to radical Muslims.
PAS Youth chief Nasrudin Hassan Tantawi called any such action as a “desecration and insult to Islam which cannot go unchallenged.”
“This burning does not serve as a warning to radical Muslims but angers all Muslims,” AFP quoted him as saying.
Council of Churches of Malaysia general-secretary Rev Dr Hermen Shastri also condemned the planned action of the church, saying the council had sent a protest note to the embassy yesterday.
“This is not the main stand of Christians worldwide.
“Unfortunately, the issue has been played up and associated with what most Christians believe in, which is absolutely untrue,” he said.

Gated schemes allowed if 51% of residents agree

KUALA LUMPUR: A gated neighbourhood can only be set up with the approval of 51% of the residents, said Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Chor Chee Heung.

He said perimeter fencing and guard houses would not be allowed to be built under the new guidelines for gated and guarded neighbourhood schemes.

He said the local authorities have the right to tear down the fencing and guard houses which caused inconvenience to residents.

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin recently said the guidelines - which were approved and endorsed by the National Council for Local Government - would be imposed with immediate effect on new applications.

Existing gated communities and guarded neighbourhood schemes are exempted.
